Site Optimization
Optimize each page of your site separately…targeting one or two different keyword phrases for each page.
Submission
Don't use a bulk submission tool…manually submit.
Wait until your site is complete and promotion has already begun in order to take advantage of potential inbound links/link popularity (other sites linking to your site).
Page Title
Use the TITLE tag…but use < 10 words.
Description meta tag
Use it…but use < 200 characters.
Keywords meta tag
Use it…but use < 1000 characters.
Don't use commas between keywords...just use a space in order to take advantage of keyword concatenation.
Keyword Phrases
Use them throughout your content…the closer to the BODY tag, the better.
JavaScript
Search engines typically don't read JavaScript because the scripts are typically contained within COMMENT tags.
Java
Search engines usually stop reading your page when they encounter a Java applet.
