Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
What do I do upon arriving?
A:
Check in with the Speed Dating coordinator who will give you a name badge with an assigned table number. No Waiting Dating asks everyone to arrive early to mingle and enjoy appetizers and cocktails before the seating begins. No Waiting Dating supplies the appetizers and one free cocktail per Speed Dating participant.

Q:
What if I am late in arriving?
A:
No Waiting Dating arranges each Speed Dating event with an equal number of single men and women. If you are late in arriving, you could rob both yourself and other attendees a chance at meeting. It is very important to be on time. No Waiting Dating asks that each Speed Dating participant show up early to enjoy appetizers and a free cocktail before the seating begins.

Q:
What happens when the seating begins?
A:
Each Speed Dating single will be asked to sit at the table with the same number as his/her assigned number. For example, if you were assigned #8, you would begin by sitting at table #8. The Speed Dating coordinator will then explain to you that each time a bell is rung, men will move to the next table to meet the next single (on some events, the woman will move and the man will stay seated). Each encounter will last approximately five to seven minutes.

Q:
What if I am not through talking to a person and am not ready to move on after the bell has rung?
A:
It is important that the person who is moving from table to table, move as soon as the bell is rung. If there is any lingering, it could cut into the time that other attendees have to spend with each other. There is always time after the event to talk further with a certain person if you like, but it is important to move along when the bell is rung.

Q:
How many singles of the opposite sex will I meet?
A:
No Waiting Dating has a minimum of ten singles of the opposite sex and a maximum of twenty.

Q:
If I sign up for a certain age range, is that my age or the age of the person I want to date?
A:
No Waiting Dating has speed dating events for certain age categories of the singles attending. If you want to date someone in a younger age category, feel free to sign up for that event. No Waiting Dating will not ask someone to verify his or her age. It does not matter to No Waiting Dating if you are older (or younger) than the age category you attend.

Q:
What is the dress code?
A:
Although No Waiting Dating has no enforced dress code; we suggest you wear upscale casual clothes. Some people dress to impress. The important thing is to keep in mind this will be your first encounter with a potential date.

Q:
How are the matches determined?
A:
If you marked "yes" on your tally sheet after meeting a certain person, and that person marked "yes" for you, then this is a match. The tally sheets are carefully reviewed after the event by the Speed Dating coordinator who emails the results the next day to each Speed Dating participant. It is then up to the "matching" singles to make contact with each other.

Q:
What information is given out to a "match?"
A:
No Waiting Dating sends via email only the information that each Speed Dating participant gives permission to release. Usually, most Speed Dating singles give out only their email addresses, but if you want your phone number also, or just your phone number, it is entirely up to you and No Waiting Dating will abide by your request.

Q:
Can I find out who marked "yes" to me even though I might have marked "no?"
A:
On your information release form, there is a box for you to check if you would like to know that information. It actually is a good thing to request because there is a chance that if you mark "no," you might later think about the person and wish you had marked "yes." Even if you are not interested in dating, you might be interested in a friendship.

Q:
How long does each event last?
A:
No Waiting Dating asks that each Speed Dating participant arrive one half hour early to mingle with other singles, and then the actual seating lasts for approximately one hour to one and half hours. Total time spent away from home will vary from 1½ hours to 2 hours. It depends on the number of Speed Dating participants.
